Purpose:


The Media Creative Lab Coordinator role assists the Manager of Digital Scholarship and Computing Services (DSCS) in a dual technical/coordination support position.

The role will coordinate the day-to-day administrative activities of media, gaming and XR (extended reality) services in the Libraries as well as providing technical support to lab users by providing users instructions, facilitating access to spaces and equipment, and carrying out inventory and basic maintenance and repair to equipment.

The role ensures technology and software offerings are operational and ready for use daily, respond to in person and online inquiries professionally and promptly, and conduct training, arrange scheduling, and coordinate YUSA2 and summer students.

The role supports research and learning in the areas of media, gaming and XR, provide instruction and workshops for users, and collaborate with instructors to support course objectives.


Education:


College Diploma in Information & Communication Engineering Technology or similar related field or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.

This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.


Experience:


Two (2) years related media creation experience and/or training with media and digital technologies as well as coordinating the work of others.

Experience working in the areas of i gaming and XR, or comparable education and experience.


Skills:

Efficient analytical and organizational skills.
Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information.
Ability to develop and deliver presentations, conduct workshops and training sessions to a variety of audiences.

Efficient interpersonal skills, judgment, tact and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide exceptional service to multiple stakeholder groups.

Working effectively as a member of a team, setting priorities, and working effectively under pressure of high volume.
Ability to maintain and manage data and keep accurate records.
Strong demonstrated ability to efficiently coordinate the activities of an instructional lab. Technical
Demonstrated ability using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software and/or digital media control software.
Knowledge of production techniques including videography, compression and file delivery and other production formats
Knowledge of all aspects of media production, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound and editing.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, perform repairs on a wide variety of audio, visual and computer equipment.


Additional Notes:


Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm Summer: 9:00am-4:00pm, every Friday, effective the Friday before Victoria Day and ends the Friday before Labour Day.

Requests to work overtime may occur during peak periods - Peak periods for this position: September - May
