Job Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Director Facilities Management, Customer Services and Security, the Manager Facilities Management is responsible for facilities management of the corporate building portfolio along with day-to-day operations of Regional Headquarters.

The building portfolio responsibilities include building operations, demand repairs, preventative maintenance, janitorial services, room bookings, utilities' management, asset management, legislative compliance, building emergency repairs, emergency response and life safety, building security, risk management, and cafeteria services.


Education:


  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Building Systems Management, Facilities Management or a related licensed trade.
  • Completion of recognized facilities management training program, such as the Facilities Management Administrator Designation of the BOMA Institute.

Knowledge:


  • Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in facilities management in a medium to large organization with diverse building portfolio
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive experience managing a facilities operations and trades workforce.
  • Experience working within a Municipal setting, or in a medium to large organization of a complex diverse nature is preferred.
  • Completion of recognized courses in Facility Management, Building Automation Systems, HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing systems, Building Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety Security Administration and Asbestos Management.
  • Certification / license as a Certified Engineering Technologist (OACETT) or as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or as an Architect (OAA) or as a licensed trade person under the Ontario College of Trades.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with various building codes (Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Electrical Safety Association, ASHRAE, Canadian Elevator Safety Act, etc).
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiating skills with the ability to coordinate activities amongst multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in change management, risk management and people management.

Responsibilities:


_ Manages Facilities Management program for the corporate building portfolio including owned and leased assets ensuring that cost effective and proactive measures are taken to provide a value for service outcome and useable, safe accommodations for all users and tenants.

(40% of time)_
:


  • Manages the daytoday building operations for Regional Headquarters.
  • Manages the Preventative Maintenance program, including all associated work orders, inspections, building maintenance tasks, maintenance contracts, and building repairs at corporate facilities.
  • Establishes best practice preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance of building systems and mechanics.
  • Develops specifications for preventative service contracts and blanket contracts.
  • Leads contract management for facilities related service contracts across the corporate buildings portfolio.
  • Manages janitorial services for corporate building portfolio (inhouse and contracted services).
  • Manages cafeteria support services contract at Region Headquarters ensuring safety and security standards are established and maintained, cafeteria services are provided, vendor contracts and revenue streams are managed, and services are monitored for quality.
  • Manages the Demand Repair program: complete daytoday equipment breakdown_ _repair
