Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree (4 years; 120 credits) from a recognized Canadian Institution; PLUS
  • No recent jobspecific experience = Growth Series Level One
  • 612 months recent jobspecific experience = Growth Series Level Two
months recent job-specific experience = Growth Series Level Three
months recent job-specific experience = Growth Series Level Four

  • 2 years recent jobspecific experience = SPO 24 Full Working Level
- **Recent experience refers to experience obtained in the preceding five years: experience must be gained after completing the education required (not before or during)

  • Successful completion of the Adult Probation Officer prerequisite course (CORR1000).
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license. A valid Class 7 may be considered.
  • Computer and keyboard skills (minimum 30 wpm).
  • Transcript from your university degree and a copy of degree**A scanned copy of your valid B.C. driver's license indicating class
  • Confirmation of completion of the JIBC pre-requisite course CORR 1000
  • Scanned screenshot from a typing test confirming your ability to type 30 WPM

About this Position:


Downtown Community Court (DCC) is a partnership between the Provincial Court of B.C. justice, social, and health services agencies working together to address the complex crime issues in the Downtown East side area. Our probation officers at DCC work collaboratively with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Forensics (psychiatrists and nurses), Vancouver Police, BC Housing, non-profit partners, and the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. Our integrated teams provide assertive case management to clients experiencing multi-barriers. It is primarily an outreach position in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver requiring travel on foot and by car through the community and in the Vancouver Region. Much of the work takes place in the community and includes home visits at Downtown Eastside hotels, attendance at community resources such as shelters, mental health drop-in centres, and addiction focused resources. This unique and innovative position will be based at the Downtown Community Court and may occasionally support the Vancouver Integrated Supervision Unit as needed.

There are currently
two (2) temporary opportunities available until October 31, 2024, and March 31, 2025. These temporary opportunities may become permanent.

An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and permanent vacancies.
