The Consultant, Network Technologies is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of Network Services and related infrastructure for both Agency and customer-owned environments.
The incumbent will take ownership for understanding current and emerging technology concerns and taking a lead role in mitigating current and emerging issues through pro-active planning.
There is the responsibility to work with other team members on a project basis with projects related to the Agency's client Networks, MERLIN's network services and consulting engagements.
The Consultant, Network Technologies is also responsible for effective participation in the planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of the Agency and customer-owned Network Services.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in Network and or IT Hosted Services design, architecture and implementation.
- Understanding of computer networks, intrusion prevention, ITILbased service process and investigative methodology.
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructures across broad range of technologies.
- Excellent customer management skills with the ability to effectively and respectfully address customer need and concerns.
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills as well as the ability to deal confidentially with people at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Duties:
Reporting to the ICT Manager, some of the key duties of the Consultant, Network Technologies are:
- The incumbent is responsible for independently and successfully executing projects with clients.
- The position provides expertise to the organization in relation to Infrastructure and Networking technologies.
- This position provides services that ensure organizational objectives are met, as well as the expectations of our many client organizations.
- This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of infrastructure that supports multiple services that MERLIN offers. These services have substantial impact on all levels of educational organizations in Manitoba.
