    Description

    Associated Ambulance IFT Red Deer is currently accepting expressions of interest for an EMR position on the 8.4 hour truck with a schedule that runs Monday through Friday. This position reports directly to the Operations Supervisor or Manager. The successful candidates will primarily be responsible for providing non-emergent transport support and will participate in a new hire orientation, before entering the field. This includes a mentorship component with experienced staff members which is valuable for our providers to better adapt to the environments we operate in. This is a temporary position for 3-6 months with possibility for extension.

    Description:

    • IFT staff provide care and transportation for non-emergent patients during routine transport between medical facilities. They may be required to assist patients who are mobility challenged and require walkers, wheelchairs or are stretcher bound. They complete and submit required documentation including patient care reports.
    • EMRs are responsible for the cleanliness of the motor vehicles, equipment and ambulance bays. They also maintain the stock of supplies and equipment available in the Ambulances and transport units.
    • Our EMRs mainly transport admitted patients within the hospital setting to another healthcare facility for testing and or treatments. Sometimes the patients are returned to their place of origin or may be admitted at a different location within the Central Zone.
    • The IFT Ambulance employee plays an important role as a member of the Associated Ambulance inter-professional healthcare team. In the course of their work, they collaborate with other emergency medical personnel, physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
    • Our team at Associated Ambulance IFT Red Deer spends a lot of time standing, reaching, walking, crouching and bending during their shifts. They are required to lift and transport patients and equipment. At times, they may be in awkward positions while providing assessment and care to ill and injured people. They may be exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, needle sticks, moving traffic, weather conditions, and other potential safety risks while on the job.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited EMR program and active registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)

    • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
    • Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's license with an abstract indicating no serious traffic safety violations - abstract will be requested.
    • Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test was taken no more than six months before the start date.
    • Must provide (VSC) Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 3 months
