Reporting to the Vice President, Events and Entertainment, the Event Manager - Entertainment is responsible for acquiring, organizing, and overseeing the planning and execution of all entertainment events that happen within TD Place or are operated by OSEG, including financial oversight, and coordination with the marketing department.

This position is best suited for someone who has a proven ability to source, coordinate and implement all the various aspects of booking entertainment events within the TD Place complex from administrative details through to and including event execution.

Examples of entertainment events include concerts, comedy shows, family shows and conventions in the arena or stadium spaces.


This position is specifically responsible for generating significant income for TD Place annually and is instrumental in deepening our client pipeline.


_ What you'll do:
_


  • Strategically research, acquire and create profitable events by proactively approaching promoters and partners and/or purchasing talent for internal promotion and deliver/update annually a rolling 12 year strategic events plan;
  • Negotiate deals including straight venue rentals, copromotions, talent buying, etc. under the direction of the VP, Events and Entertainment;
  • Develop business cases to evaluate and validate events for internal approval, conduct post event analysis, evaluations and recommendation reports;
  • Manage compliance for all necessary documents and information for events including event license agreements, contracts, event financials, all necessary correspondence to potential clients, master show files including all completed components, insurance certificates etc.;
  • Identify and overcome logĂ­stical challenges by recommending creative and innovative solutions;
  • Direct appropriate staff members in the development, scaling and marketing of events including box office, marketing, PR, conversions, guest services, premium services, production and any other needs;
  • Research, establish and maintain contacts within the event industry to ensure a healthy pipeline of events;
  • Establish working relationships and liaise with internal and external clients to ensure all needs are met and expectations are exceeded;
  • Develop innovative and mutually beneficial promotions with marketing, sponsorship and media partners that provide nonteam events with added media value/exposure;
  • Assist fellow Event Manager (Site) in delivering their events based on availability.

What's needed:


  • Completion of postsecondary degree or diploma in a relevant field;
  • 56 years of progressive experience in event planning;
  • Direct sales experience in a stadium, arena, convention center, performing arts facility or similar industry related experience;
  • Experience working in the entertainment industry;
  • Experience in leading and developing a team of fulltime staff (or workforce);
  • Experience in event and department budget development, revenue/expense management, and event mix projections;
  • Experience in contract negotiation, development and execution;
  • High degree of resourcefulness, a proactive nature, great attention to detail, and adaptability;
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and prioritizing skills;
  • Great written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays (based on event calendar);
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work under pressure and provide excellent client care to both internal and external clients;
  • Ability and desire to work primarily on site (at stadium) with some work from home flexibility;
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
