Role Summary


The VP Manufacturing and Supply Chain is a hands-on leader, a valued member of the Leadership Team and is accountable for all aspects of supply chain management and manufacturing.

The supply chain management function consists of procurement, inventory management and shipping/receiving/logistics, while the manufacturing function consists of two manufacturing facilities (Edmonton and Oman).

The VP Manufacturing and Supply Chain is able to proactively identify, communicate, troubleshoot, and resolve gaps in order to deliver an exceptional client experience while controlling costs and creating supply chain value in the specific areas of supply chain management and manufacturing.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Foster, promote and maintain a culture that emphasizes safety, quality and cost competitiveness while ensuring full compliance with all government regulations, applicable laws and corporate policy, and policies.
  • Design and execute the endtoend supply chain vision and strategy, ensuring bestinclass processes across all supply chain facets.
  • Champion opportunities to streamline existing product manufacturing processes focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Drive competitiveness by reducing supply chain complexities.
  • Oversee and optimize endtoend logistics processes, from import to delivery to clients ensuring there is scalability in all processes.
  • Lead supply chain processes to ensure adequate inventory coverage to support ongoing forecasting requirements while minimizing inventory costs.
  • Develop department objectives and key performance indicators for all areas of responsibility.
  • Forge collaborative relationships to lead change that drives continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Build and develop relationships, negotiate contracts, and formulate policies with suppliers to drive efficiency and effectiveness in the supply chain.
  • Oversee the creation of departmental budgets and manage within the budgets with respect to headcount, cost of goods sold, capital expenditures, expenses, and delivery performance.
  • Create, execute and measure manufacturing policies and programs to maximize capacity and ensure high quality products that meet or exceed client requirements
  • Drive quality performance, efficiencies and waste reduction through Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Develop an agile organization to manage new technologies and processes that are developed collaboratively with all areas of the organization
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to develop, and execute departmental goals that are in alignment with organizational goals and strategies
  • Develop and monitor safety protocols to minimize hazards in the workplace
  • As a key member of the leadership team, set strategic goals for manufacturing and supply chain for both long and shortterm policies, programs and objectives

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree or technical diploma in supply chain, business, operations, engineering or a comparable combination of training and experience.
  • SCMP designation considered an asset but not critical.
  • 10+ years progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, and international
  • Strong business acumen and indepth P&L/balance sheet understanding.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to derive creative solutions to opportunities and challenges.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement approaches.
  • Indepth understanding of current supply chain best practices and related KPI's/metrics.
  • Experience with multiple corporate ERP systems is an asset.
  • P. Eng. not required but will be considered an asset.
