The Opportunity

As a key member of the Data Enablement and Governance (DEG) team in the Group Functions Data Office (GFDO), this role is responsible for working with a team of analysts and engineers, engaging, and mobilizing Segment as well as Global partners to ensure that data governance practices are embedded into key processes.


Responsibilities
Strategic data governance

  • Support in the development and rollout of governance policies, practices and standards
  • Work with Segment Architects in the integration and enterprisewide use of Data Governance tools
  • Engage partners across the segment to ensure data governance principles are applied across their use cases, and to drive adoption of standards, including (but not limited to) gathering and managing metadata, identifying CDEs and associated data domains, and personas
  • Work with Data Owners, Custodians and Stewards to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities, providing advisory guidance and support to ensure Data Governance accountabilities are understood
  • Promote a datadriven culture through data literacy programs and communication Support POCs to enable new and/or improved capabilities within the segment data quality, access policies etc.
Data cataloging and inventorying

  • Drive the inventorying of raw and curated data sources and data elements across Group Functions Segment, solve technical issues and surfacing any change management requirements to streamline the process
  • Ensure improved user experience on the data catalog to drive adoption across the segment, through technologybased solutions and userfriendly documentation to support selfserve Incentivize and empower technology teams and GFDO squads to selfserve, by training them and consistent tracking progress
  • Work alongside key stakeholders to identify critical data elements, and gather metadata, business glossary terms, tags
  • Design and build methods to track and monitor progress and impact across the segment
  • Enable view of lineage in Purview through the scan of Azure pipelines
Automations

  • Design and build APIs to support bulk imports, updates, validations, notifications, and governance of data assets across the ecosystem
  • Improve existing structures to enable selfserve options for business users Leverage analytics on data from Azure
  • Monitor and/ or other SIEM platforms to drive usagebased intelligence and decisions around governance
Access governance

  • Contribute to the classification of datasets in alignment with internal standards and policies
  • Support in implementing access policies across the data ecosystem
  • Maintain and streamline internal tools used to manage and monitor data shares and accesses
Measurement and reporting

  • Support in the design and measurement of meaningful KPIs to showcase the progress made as well as the value delivered to the organization.

What we are looking for

  • At least 35 years of relevant work experience in a datarelated role
  • Strong data governance background with indepth knowledge of metadata management, access management and data protection, data quality, data discovery
  • Good knowledge of and experience with Azure tech stack including Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks; understanding of Azure ML is a plus
  • Solid grasp of DevOps practices, proficiency with Docker and Jenkins
  • Experience writing complex queries for a variety of database technologies (SQL, Oracle)
  • Experience redefining / curating data and building reports with the data
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to solve and solution for issues
