About the Role
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst assists with completing Amii's full cycle accounting and financial transactions.

The Financial Analyst ensures that the books and accounting records are kept in accordance with GAAP, transactions are in compliance with Amii financial policies & procedures and are documented and supported.

The Financial Analyst completes projects and provides assistance whenever necessary including assisting with the annual audit.

The role focuses on achieving excellence in three main accountabilities:

  • Ensuring Compliance with Amii Policies & Procedures, Internal Controls & GAAP

Required Skills / Expertise

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assists with monthend and yearend closing
  • Reconciles various accounts and identifies errors and anomalies; finds sources of errors and recommends action to resolve
  • Reviews & processes invoices, employee expense claims, & claims on weekly payment runs
  • Maintains internal controls: communicates with the People Leader to review and assess internal control issues and makes recommendations for improvements
  • Administers payroll
  • Tracks and prepares monthly invoicing to customers, liaisons between product teams and clients to ensure billings are accurate and timely
  • Monthly accounts receivable review and followup with customers who have aging unpaid balances
  • Records Management maintains and improves filing systems and the mapping of chart of accounts in the Accounting Software system
  • Reviews, analyzes, and monitors financial transactions to ensure accurate financial records are maintained
  • Communicates with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely responses and resolutions to issues
  • Maintains confidentiality with respect to personal, corporate, and financial information
  • Completes ad hoc reporting, financial requests, & projects as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Degree required in the field of Accounting or Finance or Business Administration and/or equivalent
  • Minimum 35 years of related experience in enterprise financial environment; experience in a not for profit environment is an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office environment, excellent data analysis skills and abilities (being an expert in MS Excel would be considered an asset)
  • Experience with Quickbooks Desktop is an asset
  • Understanding of GAAP (Generally accepted accounting principles)
  • Experience performing the payroll function and use of payroll software is strongly preferred
  • Thorough working knowledge of internal controls and internal control concepts
