Description


The Payroll Administrator or Specialist provides support for all pay related matters in accordance with applicable legislations and internal policies and processes.

Under the supervision of the Finance Team Lead, this role ensures all compensation related financial interactions are completed with the highest adherence to timeliness and accuracy.

This is a casual role on an as needed basis.


Responsibilities:


  • Supports the timely and accurate completion of all pay related processes
  • Onboarding function ensures all HRIS data is accurate
  • Day to Day Functions:
  • Prepares transactions for all Canadian, German and Australian HR, Payroll and Benefits activities, including but not limited to the following:
  • Monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees (working with foreign payroll processing services as required)
  • Government remittances compliance and year end filings and summaries
  • Preparation of all Records of Employment
  • Reconciliations with benefit providers billings
  • Prepares journal entries for payroll and allocate benefits premium costs by department
  • Support the Human Resources team to address employee queries for pay related matters
  • Projects/Adhoc
  • Processes adhoc or onetime compensation related payments
  • Assist with continuing Ultipro module implementation related to pay
  • Supports other Finance and Human Resources team members as required
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role involving payroll
  • Handson experience with HRIS payroll systems and accounting software
  • Indepth knowledge of applicable provincial laws governing remuneration including the Employment Standards Act.
  • Understanding and knowledge of human resources disciplines including compensation, pension, and benefits
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Great teamplayer
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Aptitude for remaining current with all relevant legislative requirements
  • College Diploma or University Degree in HR, Accounting, Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to attain Secret security clearance
Preferred competencies

Experience with Ultipro (UKG) HRIS or similar HRIS system:

  • Experience supporting pay related needs outside of Canada
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (NAVHR)
  • Financial knowledge with respect to accounting entries, RRSP's rules, and investments funds
  • Strong skills with Microsoft office tools (particularly excel and word)
  • Ability to learn new software capabilities and processes
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required to meet deadlines
  • Payroll certification or designation
