Position Summary:


Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for effective and efficient operation of production lines to ensure cost effective, timely manufacture of quality products in accordance with established business plans/objectives.

Overseas production planning, creates, creates, coordinates, and implements approved production shift schedules and activities directed toward production continuity and balance.

Coordinates and integrates with other department functions to ensure support in attaining output, productivity and quality.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Oversees Goreway's Fresh, Larding, Deboning, HPP and Slice operations, ensures quality and adherence to production specifications to meet customer expectations and business objectives;
  • Implements and maintains production scheduled in collaboration with all Plant functions;
  • Provides leadership to Supervisor(s): to organize, train, and motivate production personnel to ensure consistent quality of work;
  • Directs all related personnel actions, including training, performance appraisal, discipline, safety, and grievance procedures (i.e. gathering information);
  • Monitors and provides analysis on production reports including yield variance quality, and injury reports;
  • Identifies areas of process improvement, utilizing Lean Enterprise tools and programs in production areas in conjunction with all Plant functions;
  • Accountability to drive Process Reliability (OEE) improvements;
  • Drives Waste Elimination and Productivity improvement initiatives;
  • Ensures a safe work environment for employees, customers and visitors. This includes monitoring working practices and adherence to safety procedures;
  • Performs other duties as required by the Plant Manager.

Requirements:


  • Post Secondary degree or diploma with emphasis on food processing, and/or solid supervisory/ management experience in a food processing manufacturing environment.
  • Indepth knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, and WHMIS.

years' work experience in a unionized environment, ability to manage production labour force within the terms of the Collective Agreement and through Human Resources policies, guidelines and procedures.


  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
