Position Description:


The Ambulatory Care Patient Information Clerk Float Position is perfect for someone who is looking for full time employment and enjoys variety in their work week and experience.

This position allows you the unique opportunity to work across a number of medical and surgical clinics, interacting with a diverse patient population and across many exceptional departments here at SickKids, offering a diverse learning experience.

As a Patient Information Clerk, you will frequently be the first point of contact when patients and families as they arrive to the department.

You will provide service in a customer-focused manner, while facilitating the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to clinic staff and patients/families.

You will also support the operation of the team/department by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive, organized manner.


Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Greet patients and families, and assist in meeting their needs when appropriate
  • Schedule and coordinate follow up appointments and meetings
  • Organize and maintain patient charts, as well as electronic and paper information filing systems
  • Maintain electronic calendar/schedules
  • Coordinate unit administrative functions to ensure efficient operation of the unit, within scope of authority
  • Prepare requisitions
  • Provide clerical support to all health care staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned (screening calls, appointment reminder calls, etc)

Here's What You'll Need

  • Diploma from a recognized Medical Administration program an asset
  • Medical Terminology certificate is an asset
  • Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment preferred
  • Experience with patient registration systems & patient registration is required (Epic is an asset)
  • Basic proficiency with computers (i.e. MS Office Suite)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities
  • Ability to be selfdirected, to be flexible and to take initiative
  • Attention to detail and efficient time management
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
