WSP is currently seeking a Project Manager – Transportation (Alternative Delivery) to join our team, located at our Vancouver office. Reporting to the Manager, Alternative Delivery, this position will be working with an accomplished and diverse team of Project Managers and controls staff in a challenging role that offers mentorship and growth opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for project management of existing and new projects, managing relationships with existing clients, developing our team, pursuing new opportunities and strengthening our market share in BC.
RESPONSIBILITIES Functions as Owner’s field representative, project manager &/or as transportation engineer lead for multi-disciplinary assignments; Manage transportation projects, including contract administration and contract supervision Manages project planning, scheduling, budgeting and coordinating resources and ensures work meets corporate quality standards and client expectations; Manages local staff utilization, schedule and budget; and contributes to regional goals for the same; Establishes and maintains good working relationships and communication with clients, stakeholders, colleagues, project teams, and internal staff at all levels; Delivers reports, presentations, project documentation and project management documentation including work orders, project status reports, quality management plans and other financial control documents; Foster a spirit of enthusiasm and client focus; and Assist and support business development initiatives including RFP’s and RFQ’s. Assist with business development activities in BC including preparation of proposals and statement of qualifications. Drive productivity, motivation, and performance. Ensure compliance with established quality and production procedures. Provide leadership to sustain a culture of continual improvement and client satisfaction. Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, and contractors. Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status, site issues, and project quality and resolve issues as required. Maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, key specialist sub-consultants as well as other stakeholders such as design teams and support services. Assist in preparing project proposals, budgets, cash flow projections, schedules, meeting minutes and monthly reports Participate in project meetings with the client, design team, and contractor as required Reading/understanding and preparation of construction drawings and specifications
QUALIFICATIONS Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university; P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with EGBC); Minimum of 7 years of Transportation or Civil/Structural Engineering experience in the consulting services industry including roles with management and business development responsibilities; PMP certification and experience in the consulting industry is considered an asset, but not mandatory Familiarity with BC and Alberta construction standards an asset Able to work independently as well as in groups with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, project teams, and clients; Experience working in the field and working with contractors; Experience with urban roadway design and inter-disciplinary coordination related to roadway and highway projects; Familiarity with BC market conditions, public and private sector client base in and around the region; Ability to lead and mentor other engineers / technicians; Able to multi-task and meet various project deadlines; Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with excellent teamwork skills; Valid drivers license. The ability and willingness to work extended hours, including some evenings and weekends, Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire to succeed; and Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
