Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre has an exciting opportunity in Critical Care Nursing. This is a new position that will provide support to the 24/7 Emergency Department, as this position grows, the goal is to develop a team that will be cross trained to the ICU and Cardiology in addition to the Emergency Department. The successful candidate will provide nursing care to patients across the life span with varying levels of acuity. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient and family focused nursing care. You will also have the opportunity to mentor, teach and interact with residents, students, and new staff. To be successful you will have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands. Your good communication skills give you the ability to foster strong interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the client care plans. You will demonstrate competence in relevant technical nursing skills and the ability to accurately and effectively assess client status and to take appropriate intervention measures that have significant impact on the client's medical condition, safety, as well as ultimate recovery. You take responsibility for maintaining continuing competence through professional development activities, and poses a willingness to learn new skills as required.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum one (1) years’ experience in the last five (5) year’s Medical/Surgical experience. Minimum one (1) years’ in the last two (2) years’ Emergency Room experience and/or ICU experience.
