This position reports into the Laboratory Manager and is based in Guelph, Canada. This position resides on
Weekend Shift (Friday - Monday; four 10-hour shifts).

What will you do?


The Laboratory Supervisor will act as a member of the extended MAKE Quality Leadership Team at Guelph supporting analytical testing and review, cleaning validation, and site chemical safety programs.


The Laboratory Supervisor leads, co-ordinates and supports activities associated with the data review and analytical testing of raw materials, packaging components, bulk work in process, finished products, and marketed product stability.


This leader will support the release of existing product, new product launches, continuous improvement projects, compliance initiatives, leads analytical laboratory non-conformance investigations and is responsible for the growth and development of a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities***- Direct report supervision (Team of 5-9 people)

  • Review/Approval of Site Quality Documentation (eg. Change control assessments, Test Methods, Laboratory Investigations, Technical Documents, Batch Records)
  • Maintaining the Laboratory and workspace in an Audit-Ready State, communication of review/release priorities with key stakeholders (eg. Plant Quality, Laboratory, Planning)
  • Participate in short
- and long-term planning for the Quality Laboratory group through development of goals, and succession planning discussions

  • Support to Laboratory and Manufacturing Investigations
  • Purchasing Controls for Quality Laboratory
  • Quality representation on site projects impacting new/existing products
  • Track and trend Laboratory metrics, and provide coaching and feedback to laboratory analysts for improvement
  • Scheduling of Analytical Laboratory Testing and Review
  • Assist management through change and transformation activities, and support strategic and tactical plans in alignment with site's goals
Qualifications


Required:


  • Minimum of a degree in Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience within the chemical/ pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry within Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutical Research & Development, or Plant Operations
  • A minimum of 6 years of overall experience
  • Strong computer skill and Laboratory Systems knowledge
  • Thinks analytically and acts decisively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate scientific data

Desired:


  • Validation experience
  • Any certification in Process Excellence/LEAN certification/Six sigma/Project Management
  • Previous analytical or microbiological laboratory experience

Other:


  • This position may require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel
