BECOME A BIG BUDDY

OUR VOLUNTEERS, or Bigs as we call them, are adults of all ages, genders and come from a diversity of backgrounds. Bigs are there to play, listen, hang out and, most importantly, be a friend. You don't need any previous experience with kids to get involved
Our
In-School Mentoring Program pairs you with one elementary school student who you share common interests with.

Matches spend one-hour once per week together on school grounds doing non-academic activities such as playing sports, games, creating art or just hanging out at the playground.

Our matches are paired for the duration, or remainder, of the academic school-year.

Our Big Buddies are

  • Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.
  • Mentors who Little Buddies can talk to, learn from, and share experiences with.
-
Volunteers who have lived in Greater Vancouver for a minimum of 6 months.

Our Little Buddies are

  • Students grade 1 to 7 nominated by teachers, staff or by themselves.
  • Children who could use a bit of extra 1on1 attention, need to build confidence, or may have trouble connecting with peers.

Locations are designated elementary schools located across Greater Vancouver:
Surrey, White Rock, Delta, Richmond, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Vancouver
