GFL Environmental is looking for an Operations Supervisor to join our team in Trail , BC
The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the Company's transportation requirements and patterns. They will review and process day to day operations, evaluate and recommend equipment needs, and plan and schedule appropriate service lines to maintain a cost-effective balance between customer service and cost of service. They will ensure compliance with all government related programs specific to mode and direction of related haulage.

Key Responsibilities:
• Direct supervision of all drivers, ensuring ongoing training requirements, performance management and procedural implementation.
• Assist with and recommend annual equipment budget; implement and monitor the budget within approved limits.
• Act as a direct liaison between dispatch and drivers to ensure information regarding daily schedules, equipment and service requirements is efficiently relayed.
• Conduct regular driver reviews and mandatory route-rides.
• Attain all the necessary information regarding any issues by maintaining courteous, prompt, and efficient customer relations with residents.
• Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all workers, reporting any issues immediately to your direct supervisor.
• Ensure company policy, systems, and industry related training is delivered to all drivers.
• Perform Accident Investigations when company vehicles are involved in traffic accidents.
• Provide or arrange training for drivers to ensure they are properly servicing customers based on established requirements.
Requirements:
• Valid driver's license with a clean drivers abstract.
• Preferred 2-3 years supervisory experience along with experience working with Side loaders, ASL, Rear Packers, Over the Tops, Front End, and Roll Off vehicles.
• General understanding of, WHMIS, and the Highway Traffic Act.
• Able to perform a pre and post trip inspection and accident investigations.
• Previous operations, transportation, waste management experience preferred.
• Proficient with database, spreadsheet, and word processing computer skills within a Microsoft environment.
• Willing to work flexible hours with some travel.
• Recruit, interview, hire, train and performance manage all product line personnel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan, prioritize and execute against tight timelines.
• Promote the companies safety program that seeks to prevent accidents, avoid injuries, and recognize safe employees.
• Investigate accidents and prepare necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Ensure route observations are completed on a routine basis.
• Schedule, plan, and conduct safety meetings (Weekly).-Toolbox talks/Uploaded to Safety program
