Kawartha Lakes Makerspace Lead


Reports to:
ON Program Delivery Manager


Location:
In-person, Lindsay, ON - Kawartha Lakes. Some travel may be required to locations across the Kawartha Lakes and adjacent municipalities.


Salary:
$55,000


Full-time: 37.5 hours per week. 5 days a week, typically Monday to Friday and occasionally Tuesday - Saturday.

What does success look like at Pinnguaq?

  • Engaging with thousands of young learners and adults across the country through the delivery of communitycentred workshops.
  • Designing and deploying interactive experiences, online learning modules, and maker kits to teach STEAM fundamentals to all ages.
  • Publishing the nationallyrecognized Root & STEM magazine, create a space to explore diverse voices and stories in STEAM.
  • Operating makerspaces in Nunavut & Ontario providing handson access to tools, equipment, and training for inquisitive minds and makers.


As a Makerspace Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating and promoting activities and programming in Pinnguaq's Kawartha Lakes Makerspace (KLMS).

You will also be involved in supporting the planning and delivery of high-quality learning experiences at the makerspace and out in the community.

Being part of the Delivery Team is being the public face of the Pinnguaq Association and an ambassador of the work we do.

  • Running a wellorganized, busy, and exciting STEAM learning space where learners, community members, partners, and our educators feel welcome, respected, and inspired.
  • Building positive, longterm, sustainable relationships with key individuals and organizations in the City of Kawartha Lakes to support Pinnguaq's lifecycle work.
  • Facilitating the development and delivery of highquality, communitycentred, playbased STEAM and digitals skills programming for City of Kawartha Lake learners of all ages.

Responsibilities:


  • Run a wellorganized, busy, fun and exciting STEAM learning space where both learners and educators feel welcome, respected, and inspired.
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of inperson, blended, and virtual STEAMbased and essential digital literacy skills learning experiences for youth and adult learners in the KLMS.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, initiatives and best practices of Makerspaces. Assess trends, initiatives and best practices and support their integration in the Pinnguaq's programs as appropriate.
  • Schedule programming in the KLMS and, as needed, at partner locations in the community.
  • Establish and maintain KLMS systems to ensure space and equipment, including the two Pinnguaq vans, are wellorganized, in good working order, and ready for program delivery at all times.
  • Maintain teaching and tech equipment to facilitate program delivery in the KLMS and in the community.
  • Work with Delivery Team members and Marketing to ensure timely creation and distribution of program/event information for promotion.
  • Create delivery event registration pages on related platforms as needed.
  • Record and input attendance and evaluation data for delivery events including preregistered programs, inperson deliveries and live virtual deliveries.
  • Capture delivery events through photos and videos, confirm photo release forms are signed off, share photos and videos on Pinnguaq's internal Slack channel #successtoriesandshareables.
  • Build and maintain positive, longterm, sustainable partnerships with key individuals and organizations in the City of Kawartha Lakes to support Pinnguaq's lifecycle work.
  • Catalogue existing partnerships, identify gaps in strategic partnership opportunities, develop and implement plan for filling gaps.
  • Network with local community initiatives to exchange information, through public speaking, attending conferences and symposiums, tabling events, etc.
  • Facilitate the development and delivery of highquality, communitycentred, playbased STEAM and digitals skills programming for City of Kawartha Lake learners of all ages.
  • Foster an environment wherein participants have the best learning experience and are challenged in a positive, growthminded manner.
  • Represent the Pinnguaq Association in a respectful and sensitive manner.
  • Complete crossdepartmental tasks as assigned that may include but are not limited to: online module/course content and curriculum development, asset creation, contribution to the Root & STEM publication, and support with feedback gathering, evaluation and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
