Job Summary
JVF Project Management & Consulting is an established, multi-disciplined construction management and consulting firm serving owners and general contractors. JVF is currently seeking a Project Manager to assist with various construction consulting projects in Western Canada.

The project manager will be able to manage end-to-end planning and delivery of multiple parallel projects.

Oversees all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors and summarizes project progress, and builds and maintains working relationships with team members, clients, sub-trades, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects.

Prepares reports for upper management regarding the status of the projects and verifies that the project portfolio achieves the potential benefits defined in the project's business case.


Responsibilities

  • Manage Project Budgets In collaboration with General Contractors and Clients.
  • Identify various component amounts for hard costs and soft costs.
  • Advise the Construction, A/E, and General Contractor teams on budgets and make recommendations for corrective action in regard to schedule and cost.
  • Report comparison of projected versus actual costs and develop and implement strategies for cost reduction.
  • Review and make recommendations pertaining to the monthly payment of invoices in accordance with the Prompt Payment Act.
  • Implement and maintain Design Change Log and execute change management procedures.
  • Conduct cost adjustment sessions with the A/E and Owner and implement design adjustments.
  • Provide recommendations for resolution of claims made by contractors against the
Owner.

  • Establish and implement a Change Order processing system and manage the
Change Order Log for both consultants & contractors.

  • Manage budget and cost controls in coordination with the controls team.
  • Manage consultants and contractors RFI & submittal Logs to ensure the timely completion of the project.
  • Ensures permits and licenses are obtained as required.
  • Review onsite construction progress and ensure appropriate measures are taken to correct any issues found.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive construction experience with leadership and mentoring preferred.
  • Indepth knowledge of the construction industry, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, including managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decisionmakers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
  • Experience in providing budgets and estimates to clients.
