Summary of Duties
Storybook Gardens is looking to hire enthusiastic individuals for the spring and summer operating seasons.

These employees will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on our visitors by providing a safe, courteous and memorable experience.


Building Attendant

  • Building attendant staff ensure a safe, clean and functional park experience for all visitors. Primary duties include regular cleaning and stocking of washrooms, changing and emptying garbage, maintaining pathways and walkways, and light repairs and maintenance duties as required.
  • This position involves using tools including a backpack blower, pressure washer, and small hand tools.
  • Building attendant staff work primarily outdoors in a variety of weather, which may include hot / humid summer conditions.
  • Note: CSA safety footwear is required for this position.

Food Services

  • Food services staff perform all duties related to the service of hot food, beverages and snacks in any of the onsite concession locations, including the Beavertails outlet, Village Square, or the mobile icecream cart. Primary duties include food preparation, cooking, cleaning, inventory and stocking.
  • Food services staff work indoors in conditions that can be hot and humid during the summer season.
  • Food services staff must have or be willing to obtain Safe Food Handling certification.

Entertainment

  • Entertainment staff provide a variety of entertainment and interactions with park visitors, both on stage and during "street" level performances. Entertainment opportunities may include singing and dancing in small musical productions, puppetry, and costume and mascot appearances.
  • Entertainment staff applicants should have previous experience and/or training in some/all of the abovementioned disciplines.

Guest Service Cashier

  • POS staff work in various service locations throughout the park, including the admissions booths, ride ticket booth, gift shop, preregistered guest lines and group entrance.
  • Primary duties include customer service, sales of admissions, ride tickets, processing group checkin, cash handling, till balancing and cleanliness of the castle.

Attractions

  • Attraction Leaders inspect and safely operate the various amusement attractions, including the carousel, train, jumping pillow, splash pad and tower slide and additional rental attractions.
  • These roles require a focus on safety and confidence in enforcing policies and procedures. All positions will include operation and maintenance tasks.
  • Note: CSA safety footwear is required for this position.

Programming/ Special Events

  • Provide supervision and activity leadership in various play features around the park, including the Pirate's Island play area, Gnorbert's garden, play village, sand play plus regular cleaning duties.
  • Facilitate and supervise special event or drop off programs at Storybook Gardens.
  • Experience with creative programming, child supervision and events are considered an asset for this role.
  • This position requires evening and weekend availability.

Work Performed General Job Responsibilities**- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors.

  • Work safely and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Administer first aid as required and provide comfort and care to guests in need.
  • Ensure compliance with all City of London policies and practices.
  • Be flexible to work a variety of areas in the park as required.
  • Storybook Gardens staff positions require working outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions, including at times working in direct sunlight and / or periods of high temperature or humidity.
  • Scheduled shifts for all positions will include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays during the employment period.

Qualifications/Experience

  • High level of comfort in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to work in a fastpace environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Previous experience working with children and families.
  • Second language would be an asset (please include on your resume).
  • Standard First Aid with CPR/ AED Level C and other qualifications as required by the position (see below).
  • Minimum age 15 by start date of employment.
  • 100% Participation and completion of staff training is a condition of employment.

Compensation and Other Information Wage**:
Beginning at $15.50/hour

Employment Period A
The employment period runs from April 1 to Sept 5.

There will be a mandatory virtual training session on April 1 with 4 hours of required self-study to be completed prior to onsite training dates of April 5 and April 6.
