    Duties:

    The Urban Agriculture Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Barrett Centre of Innovation in Sustainable Urban Agriculture utilizes their background and experience working in or with the agriculture or food production industries to research, develop and prepare a positioning paper about urban agriculture within Ontario. The Research Analyst works independently and collaboratively as part of a team to meet with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to a timely and professional collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to urban agriculture municipal policy are current and leading-edge in the urban agriculture space


    The position's range of responsibilities includes:

    • Meet with the external client and internal team members to understand and outline the purpose of the positioning paper, needs, and expectations, resulting in a Framework upon which to base the Position Paper
    • Facilitate and report on external assessments with industry and stakeholders facilitated through interviews, focus groups and surveys
    • Conduct data analysis and information gathering
    • Prepare a comprehensive data analysis on stakeholder feedback
    • Prepare a final Urban Agriculture Recommended Position (including recommended municipal planning & policy changes) based information and data collected
    • Provide subject-matter expertise regarding urban agriculture, Ontario municipal policy, and data management best practices in order to develop a comprehensive urban agriculture positioning paper for Ontario municipalities

    Qualifications:

    1. A minimum of a 4 year degree in urban agriculture, management, or business
    2. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in data analysis and management (or a combination of work and education)
    3. A minimum of 1 year of work experience in agriculture (or a combination of work and education)
    4. Project management/ leadership work experience is an asset
    5. Experience having facilitated stakeholder interviews and data collection, including running focus groups, conducting surveys, and leading 1:1 interviews
    6. Strong analytical skills and an ability to prepare clear, concise, and current projected-related documentation and reports
    7. Experience working with internal and external client teams
    8. Have a passion for urban agriculture
    9. Ability to work independently and in a team, both internally and externally, to establish rapport, credibility, and build effective relationships to accomplish common team goals and objectives
    10. Ability to work with confidence and with a strategic focus to manage competing priorities, and to ensure that agreed-upon goals & project-related work is delivered on time and achieves desired goals
    11. Time and project management skills are required, to ensure that deadlines are met in a timely manner
