Edmonton John Howard Society (EJHS) is creating a marketing and communications department and is recruiting a _
Marketing & Communications Specialist_.

As the first member of this department, you will play a pivotal role and have the unique opportunity to shape and execute the organization's marketing strategy from inception to implementation.

Position Summary:

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of a marketing and communications department from the ground up, driving meaningful change and impact for our agency and the community.


As the Marketing & Communications Specialist you will report to the CEO and be a member of the Strategic Leadership Team.

You will be responsible for creating and managing the marketing and communications functions to drive awareness, engagement, and support for our mission-driven initiatives.

Areas of Responsibility will include brand development, marketing strategy, content creation and management, stakeholder relations, and community engagement.


Responsibilities:

Develop Marketing Strategy: Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the organization's mission, values, and strategic direction.

Brand Development and Management: Cultivate the organization's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communications channels and materials.

Content Creation and Management: Oversee the creation and management of compelling content (written, visual, and multimedia) that effectively communicates the agency's mission, and impact.

Stakeholder Relations and Media Outreach: In collaboration with the CEO, cultivate relationships with media outlets, influencers, and other relevant stakeholders to generate positive media coverage and increase visibility for the organization.

Community Engagement:Develop and implement strategies to engage with and mobilize the agency's community of supporters, volunteers, donors, and clients.

Marketing Analytics and Performance Tracking: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize analytics tools to track, measure, and optimize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.

Team Leadership:Recruit, mentor and coach a team of communications professionals to foster personal and professional growth and a positive work culture.

Budget Management: In collaboration with the Director of Finance, develop and manage the department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.


Qualifications / Skills:


  • Postsecondary education in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing leadership roles, with a deep understanding of marketing principles and practices is preferred
  • Previous experience in the notforprofit sector or with a community agency is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences across various channels
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable marketing plans
  • Ability to build rapport, represent the agency, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and problemsolving abilities, with keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team
  • Experience managing budgets and resources effectively to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Conditions of Employment:


  • Ability to travel to various program sites within Edmonton
  • This office is located at the Transition Place building at #401, Street
  • The hours of work are Monday
  • Friday, 8:30 AM 4:30 PM

Salary:


  • The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 annually.
