NEC Native Education College is a large private Indigenous college in Vancouver and works with First Nations and Indigenous organizations to deliver programs throughout British Columbia.

We strive to combine academic excellence with a strong commitment to First Nations community-based education and the best practices of adult education.

We are seeking a laboratory instructor to educate and supervise HCA students.

Personal Care and Assistance

This practical course will allow students to acquire personal care and assistance skills within the parameters of the HCA role.

The course comprises lectures and supervised laboratory experiences that assist the students to integrate theory from other courses to develop care-giver skills that maintain and promote the comfort, safety, and independence of individuals in community and facility areas.

Instructor Qualifications:

Current full practicing registration as LPN/RN/RPN with the BCCNM
Minimum two years of fulltime nursing experience (1 year=1400 hours), with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system including
Experience in working with older adults with complex health needs
Experience or orientation (e.g., shadow shifts) inhome support and multilevel/complex care
Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (PID diploma equivalent education or previous HCA course teaching experience with satisfactory references and student course evaluations
Evidence of completion of coursework in Indigenous cultural safety and humility (e.g., San'yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Training or an alternative training program
Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills
Experience in MS Teams and Moodle learning platforms
Proven ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

Terms:

Appointment to this casual contract position will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may preclude an offer of employment from being finalized.

Instructors will be reporting to the HCA Program Manager.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm, In-Person

Salary:
LPN, $39.50/ hr, RN - $43-$45 /hr ( Based on teaching experience)
