    About this opportunity:

    Cenovus is currently recruiting for a Production Engineer to join our team.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Lloyd Thermal Production Engineering, the Production Engineer is responsible for the performance of SAGD well pairs at the Lloyd Thermal asset, with a proven history of technology development and implementation.

    The incumbent will work with their multi-disciplinary pad team to increase production and reserve recovery through producer & injector optimization, while reducing costs. In addition to this core responsibility, the successful candidate will be assigned SME responsibilities where they will represent the function in other interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.

    What you'll do:

  • Well operation and production optimization of SAGD well pairs, including some of the most productive wells in onshore Canada on a growing asset:
  • Use industry leading technology to optimize producer and injector performance based on live data
  • Pump system and completion selection and design for existing and new wells
  • Collaborate with Completions/Well Servicing, Drilling, Operations & Process Engineeringto identify and execute on value-add opportunities
  • Collaborate with other subsurface professionals from Reservoir Engineering and Geology on optimizing pad performance and recovery through operating strategy, pad redevelopment and redrills
  • Gain valuable technical experience through project work & SME opportunities, including:
  • Water management – source and disposal wells
  • Data Science & Data Visualization
  • Automation Projects
  • ARO and Regulatory Compliance
  • Chemical Stimulations

    • Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • A minimum of 4+ years of Engineering experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is required
  • Registered Engineer in Canada, in good standing
  • Experience specific to Production Engineering responsibilities would be preferred
  • Consideration will be given to keen individuals with less than 4 years of experience but have demonstrated skills to learn quickly, balance their priorities and being a creative problem solver
  • Specific responsibilities will be paired to the successful candidate's qualifications
  • Tangible experience in data analysis and visualization would be considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of SAGD Reservoir operations, completions designs and/or facilities processes would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply past experiences to current role
  • Ability to interact and work closely in a multi-disciplinary team is required
  • A proven self-starter who is adaptable and tackles ambiguous problems with a pragmatic approach
