Position Summary

The Quality Control Supervisor oversees quality of fabrication of each skid package or part that gets fabricated by welding at 5Blue.

Duties and Responsibilities
The role of the Quality Control Supervisor encompasses many activities including:

• Supervision of welding procedures;
• Supervision of inspection and acceptance of all material received;
• Handling and tracking of drawings;
• Implementation of process piping and pressure vessels quality requirements;
• Witnessing of hydrotests and function tests;
• Tracking, viewing and inspection of every weld;
• Turnover documentation for each project tailored to client;
• Abiding to client specification for each project;
• Review of ITP's for each project;
• Welder testing supervision;
• Maintains quality certification, arranging and participating in audits for recertification;
• Work and assist with 5blue's customer representatives and ABSA representatives;
• Arranges for NDE testing;
• Visit subcontractor shops to supervise the fabrication of contracted.

Direct Reports
The Quality Control Supervisor is a motivated member of a team working together in the most efficient manner. The position has three (3) to five (5) direct reports.


Tools, Systems, Equipment and Machinery
Personal Computer/laptop with Microsoft Office Suite, tracking and documentation software.


Physical Requirements
Sitting for periods at a time focused on a computer screen. Lifting light to moderate weights.


Travel Requirements
Travel between shops, to local customers and to sub-contractor's facilities within Alberta. There is possibility of travel to customer sites.


Working Environment
Works in a controlled office environment. Shop with potential extreme cold or heat. Outside in potential extreme cold or heat. Requires safety equipment.


Communications
Effectively facilitates internal and/or external meetings. Interacts in a respectful and cooperative manner with customers, inspectors, sub-contractors, suppliers and co-workers. Participates in most project meetings from kickoff to a post mortem. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.


Qualifications

• CWB level 2 working toward level 3 is a requirement.
• Metal trade background is required.
• Minimum ten years' NDE experience is required.
• Minimum five years' experience managing a QC team is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good knowledge of ASME / ANSI / API Codes.
• Theoretical and practical project management knowledge is required.
• Knowledge of techniques and tools used by the variety of inspectors engaged by oil and gas producers with regards to inspecting equipment fabricated by 5Blue.

Salary:
$110,000.00-$135,000.00 per year

Education:

• Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

Quality Team Management: 5 years (required)

• NDE: 10 years (preferred)

Language:

• English (required)

Licence/Certification:

• CWB Level 2 working toward Level 3 (required)
• Class 5 Licence (required)
