    TITLE: Primary Classroom Teacher Grade 2/3

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    HongDe (Virtue) Elementary School is a BC Ministry of Education registered not-for-profit K-5 independent school that offers a Chinese (Mandarin) / English bilingual program. Students learn both languages during part of their school day. There will be 40% of the curriculum taught in Mandarin during K-5 grades and 60% in English. The purpose of the school is to provide programs that teach about traditional Chinese and western culture values as well as to develop virtues and character traits that are essential for society.

    Start Date: September 1, 2023

    Applicants must:

    possess a current Certificate of Qualification from the BC Teacher Certification Branch

    bring a student-centered, inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum.

    an intelligible incorporation of First Nations principles of learning throughout your practice.

    be prepared to use technology (MS Teams for communication)

    fluent in both Mandarin and English, able to use traditional and simplified characters, as well as zhuyin and pinyin romanization systems to teach students

    Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

    the ability to endorse the school's mission and vision statement
