Thrive Charter School is a kindergarten through grade 6 school located at 10735 McQueen Road opening in September 2023. The school is currently under renovation. Thrive School is creating something special; a no fees to parents, K-6 Public Charter School. A place where our students' brilliant futures come into clear focus, and anything is possible.

Position Description

1.0 FTE Educational Assistant (2 positions)

Eligibility and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education would be an asset
  • First Aid certificate would be an asset
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training would be an asset
  • Courses related to working with students with special needs would also be an asset
  • Minimum of oneyear related experience

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Principal, the teachers in the classrooms where you are assigned, and in compliance with the Thrive Elementary School approved charter:

  • Assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities.
  • Work as a team member of the school and student support team
  • Provide routine and repetitive instructional support
  • Assists the students in acquiring the education and skills necessary for advancement in the educational setting.
  • Work to implement the strategies as outlined in the Individual Program Plans or Personalized Opportunity Plans
  • Duties as assigned may include routine recording, basic charting, logging of observations as well as possibly provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.
  • Maintain welcoming, safe and caring school and classroom environment safe through active supervision
  • Promote open communication and work cooperatively and effectively as a team member who communicates and contributes information on a continuous basis
  • Maintain classroom resources and assist in cleaning and sanitizing
  • Distribution of meals and snack
  • Supporting of students academically before they transition into the Thrive Time extracurricular programs
  • Provides learning opportunities so students are able to see themselves as the innovators, scientists, inventors, engineers and technology experts of tomorrow.
  • Establishes and models expectations for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom we are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies governing students.
  • Open minded and committed to continuous professional learning, collaboration, and reflection.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Plans and supervises engaging class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, as appropriate, and guides students in learning from such activities.
  • Performs supervisory duties, as assigned
  • Performs other related tasks as appropriate, including organizing materials, displaying students' work, as assigned
