Our Pipeline Team
At Cinesite, the pipeline department is responsible for ensuring that the studio pipeline is operating efficiently and effectively, whilst supporting artists with troubleshooting, creating tools and maximizing efficiencies.
In Pipeline we look for strong problem solving and communication skills in order to work collaboratively with the wider studio.
As well as working collaboratively as a team, we work closely with the other Cinesite studios, every part of production and the local IT team.

- Update production on deadlines, scheduling and workflow issues
- Write technical documentation for others to use and refer to
- Track, assign and manage deadlines with production
- Maintain consistencies for workflows, processes, tools and the pipeline
- Collaborate with other departments for optimization, solving issues and ensuring continuity
- Participate in the development of Cinesite's global technology strategy
- Work closely with production and the IT team to avoid bottlenecks
- Work closely with the other locations pipeline teams to ensure best practice and consistency
- Advise Supervisors and Artists on efficient practices and workflows
- Work with Supervisors and Artists to facilitate the flow of assets and data between departments
- Review existing tools and workflows to identify efficiencies and developments
- Communicate changes to all relevant parties with appropriate notice
- Develop tools to improve artist usage of relevant software
- Reduce the data and hardware resource footprint of the artists by setting guidelines and creating resource management tools
- Technical troubleshooting
What you bring to the team
- In depth knowledge of node based Lighting software (either Clarisse, Katana or Gaffer)
- In depth knowledge of Arnold renderer
- Knowledge of Texturing/Surfacing DCC software (Substance Painter, Mari, etc.)
- Broad knowledge for problem solving and troubleshooting
- Efficient time management and strong understanding of resource management
- Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within the department and the rest of the studio
- Solid organizational skills
- Excellent ability to communicate information to both technical and nontechnical people
- Broad understanding of VFX and Feature Animation tools, techniques, technologies and efficiencies
- In depth knowledge of Python
- Good understanding of writing custom shading nodes
- Good knowledge of the 3D production pipeline
- Foundational knowledge of PyQT and PySide
- Foundational knowledge of OSL
