Responsibilities:

Overall supervision of anesthesia staff ensuring all are adhering to Hospital approved anesthesia protocols and techniques. This includes the orientation of firsttime Anesthetists;
Ensuring that all established anesthesia protocols and techniques are safe, maintain the highest quality care to patients and comply with applicable community/medical standards. Should changes be desired, or required, to established protocols and techniques, develop a plan for approval to test and evaluate any changes prior to their implementation. All proposed changes, plans and revaluation results must be reviewed and approved by the Chief Surgeon and Management;
In coordination with the administrative assistant and management, finalize daily duty rosters ensuring appropriate anesthesia coverage for OR caseloads, including coordinating vacation and conference time;
Scheduling and equitable distribution of OR caseload to anesthesia staff in coordination with the Chief Surgeon and Manager of Surgical Suites;
Responsible for reviewing the appropriateness of all surgical cases including completion of required anesthesia consultations for surgery as required;
Participating in Chart and OR Committees as required;
Completion of Anesthesia staff annual performance reviews as required;
After performing the duties of the fulltime Anesthetist, and fulfilling required daily administrative tasks, participate as appropriate in the proposed new Hospital pain clinic;
Participation in internal and external research projects as requested by Management; and
Mediating disputes between anesthesia staff and Medical staff, Nurses, Employees and Patients as required.
