We are looking for a talented
Flowfield Design Lead to join our team specializing in Engineering for our
Accelera by Cummins business unit in
Mississauga, ON / your remote home office.
- Obtains technical function requirements of fuel cell stack and system and translate those requirements into a plate design and development plan.
- Responsible for design calculation of fluid thermodynamic properties include flow rate, velocity, temperature and pressure, constituents.
- Responsible for design of detailed channel geometries including incorporating the results from CFD and FEA into the plate design process. Obtains input and leads the negotiation with crossfunctional and crossdiscipline technical experts and seniorlevel designers to communicate the component and subsystem design intent through Design Review package to the Product Preceding Technology, (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), or Value Package Change Request (VPCR) team requiring a such holistic assessment of various design concepts.

- Applies design for manufacturing (DFM)methodology for costeffective manufacturing techniques (machining, molding, forming, stamping, chemical etching, etc.) in preparation for prototyping and highvolume manufacturing
- Leads mechanical design team and be responsible for mechanical design of next generation fuel cell bipolar plate.
- Proven experience in one the following industries is considered as an asset: bipolar plate design in electrochemical systems (PEM fuel cell, water electrolysis, membrane chlor-alkali, etc.), plate heat exchanger, precision metal forming or stamping.
- Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office and CREO tools is preferred.
- Cross-Functional Design Integration
- Translates the value package requirements that include the voices of many stakeholders into virtual designs and communicates the capability of the design through an approved crossfunctional design review.
- Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems
- Acquires and applies an indepth understanding of mechanical systems through working knowledge that guides a designer's ability to create innovative and sound design concepts to meet Cummins and customer expectations; designs for requirements of all lifecycle stages by considering the customer requirements in different operating environments to ensure a robust system.
Education
Bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree from Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
