Position Summary:


Reporting to the Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), this role will further our progress on GTAA's DEI strategy, programs, policies and processes.

The Associate, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) will plan, organize, and implement various programs consistently across all business units, with the overall goal of strengthening the corporate culture.

Key focus areas will include the website redesign and the management of Employee Resource Groups (ERG) and Cultural Event/Inclusion Day.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Lead the redesign of GTAA's internal and external DEI website; taking a lens to understand our various audiences
  • Manage our ERGs including collaborating with executive sponsors
  • Manage the DEI annual calendar, DEI events and campaigns as part of the DEI annual strategy by collaborating with relevant internal and external partners
  • Navigate the organization and be a trusted advisor while using DEI expertise to address incoming questions and concerns and organize support when necessary
  • Handle the drafting and finalizing of external award submissions as it aligns and supports our DEI strategy
  • Drive, develop, and implement DEI awarenessbuilding initiatives and events that support DEI in the workplace through communication, partnerships, project management, research, and event planning
  • Lead communication channels and assist in developing impactful DEIrelated communications for the quarterly DEI newsletter, cultural and heritage celebrations, recognized inclusion days, holidays and celebrations etc.
  • Be an advisor to our DEI councils and committees and participate in committee meetings
  • Partner with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Organizational Learning and Development, Talent Teams etc. across the business to drive DEI results
  • Develop DEI solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.

Qualifications:


  • University Undergraduate Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year professional experience in DEI
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience developing, working with, or leading ERGs is an asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transport Canada Clearance

  • Experience presenting to diverse stakeholders with the ability to adapt communication style to resonate with various audiences
  • Motivated selfstarter who takes initiative and is comfortable working autonomously, remotely, as well as in a team setting
  • Experience implementing a DEI strategic agenda and managing DEI initiatives
  • Able to take highlevel ideas and instructions and turn them into tangible events, programs, and initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including effective presentation skills
  • Ability to design DEI programming for varying audiences
The GTAA is a federally regulated private sector. The Government of Canada has suspended mandatory vaccination requirement for federally regulated transportation sector workers.

The GTAA continues to monitor government and health developments relating to COVID -19 and may re-introduce the Vaccination and proof of Vaccination requirements in the Policy at any time.
