Position Overview:
- Enforces parking bylaws on City property in the downtown core and residential streets, private apartment/townhouse complexes, and commercial properties by general patrol of the city. Responds to, investigates, and enforces parking bylaw complaints; gathers evidence; and acts as a witness in court with respect to municipal parking bylaw infractions.
Responsibilities:
- Patrolling city streets and parking lots to ensure bylaws are being followed, issuing parking infraction notices.
- Assisting in the preparation of court documents and attending court as a witness.
- Preparing daily summaries of the parking infractions that were issued.
- Providing general direction and education to the public.
- Towing of vehicles when necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma, plus one (1) year additional job related postsecondary courses in Law and Security, Police Foundations or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of related experience in the bylaw or policing field.
- Valid MTO G class driver's license in good standing.
- Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate.
- Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
- Physically fit and be able to walk and drive for an entire shift and sustain a high level of activity.
- Possess proven customer service skills and be able to adequately deal with hostile people and manage conflict in a professional manner.
- Willing and able to work the required rotating shifts 24 hours/7 days a week.
- Ability to communicate both oral and written for purposes of testifying in court and documenting daily work.
- Willing to wear a uniform as supplied and maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Able to carry and issue tickets using a handheld computer (approx. weight 2 lbs).
- Capable of working independently and have an ability to analyze situations and problem solve with minimum supervision.
- Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.

- Grade 12 Diploma with minimum 2 years' related and relevant experience or 2-Year Diploma (or 2
- Year Specialized Post-Secondary Program) with minimum 6 months related and relevant experience
- "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all Directors, General Managers, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity._
- The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_
- 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent fulltime, temporary fulltime and parttime classifications._
- 2. within the same Division in the case of students."_
