The IT Disaster Recovery (IT DR) Program Analyst as directed is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of the enterprise IT disaster recovery management (IT DRM) program for Metrolinx.

The objective of this program is to build resilience into and support timely IT operations recovery following the occurrence of an IT outage or major disasters, such as cyberattacks, catastrophes or pandemics that result in the partial or complete disruption of business or IT operations.


What will I be doing?

  • Under the direction of the Disaster Recovery Lead, plan, build, run and manage the design and implementation of Metrolinx enterprisewide IT DRM program, including policies, maturity models, methodologies, sourcing strategies, plans, metrics and scorecards for all components of the program.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and provide detailed direction for all resilience and IT disaster recovery testing activities. Collaborate with business unit staff, external business partners and key IT staff members for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling, and maintaining an effective testing plan.
  • Perform infrastructure recovery capacity planning with key IT technology groups in support of specific business units' current, planned and new initiatives, with a major focus on proactively ensuring an adequate recovery network and processing environment, as well as accurate and predictive budgeting.
  • Provide leadership in coordinating, assessing, and communicating recovery environment requirements associated with the current data center environment, and participate in new activities, with appropriate technology groups, resulting in recommendations to enable timely, effective decisions regarding data center recovery planning and execution.
  • Ability to translate business operations recovery requirements into actionable plans, IT systems infrastructure requirements and resilience/recovery testing strategies
  • Develop and negotiate contracts and servicelevel agreements (SLAs) for external IT disaster recovery service providers.
  • Create program update communications to internal management (the board of directors, the audit committee, the business continuity management steering committee, and business unit management) regarding the status of the IT DRM program.
  • Facilitates dialogue and discussion between the business and stakeholders (internal and external), assists with prioritization between competing objectives (i.e. run meetings, focus groups, joint sessions, and workshops)
  • Develops and maintains strong partnership with diverse internal and external stakeholders to gather qualitative and quantitative DR data needed for solid decisionmaking. Assume operations leadership responsibility for IT infrastructure disaster recovery with a major focus on achieving all financial estimates, ensuring the adequacy of endstate production recovery environments, meeting all strategic planning deliverables, and coordinating the activities of technology resources with key business units and development groups, as required.
  • Develops an indepth understanding of the business processes, assets, facilities, responsibilities, regulatory requirements, and interdependencies within Metrolinx

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Information Technology, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Certified Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Professional (ABCP/CBCI) certification would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery / business continuity practices and protocols, planning, mitigation, response and recovery to coordinate the development, and implementation of the DR program.
  • Three (3) to Five (5)' experience, including:
  • Leadership and relationship management, with experience with internal stakeholders — particularly line-of-business management, as well as external parties such as law enforcement, regulators, customers, business partners and third-party service providers.
  • Successful in working on large projects,
