Duty & Freight Audit Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares reconciliations and analysis of assigned account(s) by specified due date.
- Prepares and reviews reports to ensure accuracy of financial data in accounting and operational system.
- Investigates and resolves or escalates issues relating to financial data quality, unusual transactions, outstanding items and reconciliations to immediate supervisor or customs brokerage team(s) when necessary.
- Book journal entries and verifies integrity of financial data in accounting system.
- Carries out month end close activities which includes (but not limited to) preparing cheques, rebills, preK84 removal, etc.
- Communicates and followsup on any issues and/or reconciling items with applicable departments i.e., AR, AP, P&L to ensure the data is resolved in a timely manner.
- May generate and import financial reports into Excel spreadsheets.
- Works with the CFS group on submitting payments to government agency i.e., CBSA.
- Participates in monthly, quarterly, and annual audits.
- Assists in identifying and solving system issues as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Knowledge of GAAP and audit standards.
- Understanding of balance sheet accounts as well as accrual accounting.
- Excellent communication skills in both a written and oral context.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Coda or similar accounting system.
WORK EXPERIENCE - MINIMUM REQUIRED:
- 2 years of related experience
EDUCATION: - Required: Associates Degree or post-secondary education in Finance
