Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

  • At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.
  • Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, everchanging industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

Your role
Radio-Canada Manitoba is looking for an energetic and enterprising associate producer who will play a vital supporting role. You will be assigned primarily to the Le Téléjournal Manitoba. You will be assigned to collect, write and broadcast material for all our media platforms.

The work may involve coordinating the activities of others, and it is essential to work closely with the issuing unit.

You are a troubleshooter who can solve problems — both technical and editorial — when you encounter them.

With appropriate direction from one or more producers, you contribute to the production, direction and/or post-production of Le Téléjournal Manitoba and other broadcasts by performing programming and technical operations duties.

Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices and/or programming policies, but there is latitude for initiative, creativity and independent judgment.

There is a regular requirement to coordinate the work of others.

Key tasks:

  • Contribute ideas for program content; help prepare program objectives.
  • Assist in developing program content, including writing, researching and/or editing.
  • Ensure that equipment, facilities, program sources and personnel are available to meet operational and program requirements. Prepare scripts; ensure adherence to the style and format of the program.
  • Set up and operate equipment to meet program and production goals.
  • Edit and mix programs or program segments. Ensure that program mixes, including the creation of audio effects to meet program and production objectives, achieve optimum aural results.
  • Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the production.

As required, perform the following tasks:

  • Produce program elements.
  • Direct a program, either live or prepackaged, in studio or at a remote location.
  • Organize the participation of interviewees, creative contributors and other program participants; develop background, introduction and line of questioning; conduct or arrange for any necessary research; and ensure the briefing of hosts.
  • Assist in maintaining a level of communication or rapport with audience members that is both feasible and appropriate to the style and nature of the program.
  • Select and play music, sound effects and/or actuality.
  • Assemble, code, digitize and package sound and digital images for a website and social media using appropriate technologies.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a university degree plus three years' relevant practical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Franco-Manitoban community.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and through group discussions (open to new ideas and approaches).
  • Availability to work flexible hours and overtime.
  • Understanding of the structure and workflow at CBC/Radio-Canada, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with counterparts in other centres.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) required.

You are invited to consult and familiarize yourself with our Code of Conduct, which can be found on our corporate website.

All employees must adhere to the Code as a condition of employment. We also invite you to take a look at our policy on conflicts of interest.
