    The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to improve health outcomes. This role is an opportunity to support and improve BC First Nations clients' access to health services.

    Title: Health Benefits Assessor
    Salary: $57,465 - $62,211 per year (pay range explained below)
    Contract: 6-Month Term
    Hours: 8am- 4pm or 8:30am-4:30pm
    Location : 1166 Alberni Street, Vancouver (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA's flex work policy – 50% in office)
    Bargaining Unit: PSAC Local Public Service Alliance of Canada)

    About the role
    As the Health Benefits Assessor, you will review, assess, and adjudicate First Nations Health Benefits requests. This role will process payments and client reimbursements, conduct analysis and provide recommendations regarding exceptions and appeals, provide program information to key stakeholders, and maintain records and systems.

    About you
    To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Grade 12, including completion of one year of post-secondary education, plus one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Knowledge of First Nations social, health, economic, and political issues
  • Ability to provide information and advice directly to clients and providers
  • Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Time management skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of data entry, manipulation, and retrieval techniques using a variety of automated systems and software.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

    The Pay Range is the minimum (Step 1) and maximum (highest Step) annual base salary based on full time equivalent hours.

We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.
