Cenovus Energy is currently recruiting a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering student to join our Midstream Integrity & Environment Team. We are looking for a candidate who has an eagerness to learn and thrives in a fast-paced, diverse working environment. The successful candidate will provide engineering support to Integrity Engineers, supporting with quality assurance, analyzing in-line inspection data, working with regulations and industry standards, and participating in threat reviews.

What you'll do

·Support all integrity programs (Cathodic Protection, Internal Corrosion, Geotechnical, In-line Inspection and Digs, Fatigue Management, Facility).

·Perform quality assurance tasks and reconcile data discrepancies.

·Support the update of specifications and standards.

·Assist in the selection of integrity digs.

·Generate and maintain spreadsheets for tracking progress on initiatives and programs.

·Participate in and record activities of meetings with vendor partners and internal meetings.

·Support the completion of technical decision documentation.

·Conduct technical research.

·Participate in threat reviews, risk assessments and technical presentations.

Who you are

·Legally entitled to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

·Available to begin full-time work in September 2024.

·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

·Strong verbal and communication skills.

·Critical thinker in a fast-paced, hard-working, team environment.

·MS skills are an asset.

·Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes, or solutions.

Education

·Must be enrolled in an Engineering Undergraduate Program specializing in Materials/Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.

·New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Working Conditions

·May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

·This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.

·Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver is abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role
