Who we need


As a Financial Solutions Consultant with the Emphasys Accounting Group (our financial and management consulting team), you will provide accurate, compliant and timely fee accounting services to a portfolio of clients in the public housing industry.

You will monitor changes in regulations, develop and implement accounting procedures to help build high-performing financial services departments and identify opportunities to provide essential services to existing and new clients.

What's in it for you

_ Impact, growth, and flexibility._ Within a year, you will be well-versed in governmental, non-profit accounting, maintain your own portfolio of public housing clients and be able to navigate through the administrative suite of the Emphasys Elite software system. You will create your own work schedule in order to provide services to clients in different time zones. You will work with, learn from and support a team of accounting professionals with a combined 45+ years of industry knowledge.


What you will focus on:


  • Consulting services. You will act as the Audit Liaison, ensuring all documentation and reporting is accurate and provided upon request to ensure a positive outcome. You will identify opportunities for cost savings through additional fee accounting services for existing or prospective clients. You will work across and within other Emphasys departments to further the overall objectives of the organization and enhance the client experience.
  • Compliance monitoring. You will assist the CFO/Finance Director by tracking and navigating through changes in regulations (HUD, GAAP, GASB, IRS, etc.) You will leverage your knowledge and insights to recommend updates and create service offerings for clients that will result in process improvement.

What you bring:


  • Education and experience. You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and you may have your CPA. You have 3+ years of experience performing complex accounting functions independently, including compliance and regulation alignment, monthend closing, and audit preparation.
  • Knowledge and drive. You have the practical exposure and financial insights to perform client analytics and provide trend information identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvement. You have experience balancing multiple concurrent projects and completing deliverables on time.
  • Consulting skills. You have professional written and verbal communication skills and can build strong working relationships. You are solutionoriented, can identify business needs and gaps and are able to share expert knowledge to increase the impact of your services. You can manage shifting priorities and effectively avoid conflict through communication and transparency. You are able to adapt to changing environments and handle multiple priorities.
  • Technical skills. You have intermediate skills with Excel for the production of simple and complex spreadsheets. You can manage and analyze complex data for reconciliations. You are familiar with industry accounting software solutions or can easily learn how to navigate accounting software independently.
  • Ownership. You work with a sense of urgency and hold yourself accountable for exceeding expectations and meeting deadlines. You continuously seek new information and learning opportunities, staying at the forefront of best practices in the industry.
