Director of Health


Brief Overview:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Connect Saskatchewan Métis citizens (children, youth, adults, and families) to supportive mental health and substance use services,
  • Identify mental health and substance use needs and recommend professional and supportive services in Saskatchewan.
  • Keep an uptodate directory and resource list.
  • Liaise with Métis Mental Health and Addictions program to support citizens accessing services.
  • Ensure client confidentiality and protection in all aspects of the work.
  • Network and build strong collaborations and partnerships with appropriate organizations, agencies, and service providers across the homeland, including with Saskatchewan Health Authority.
  • Work collaboratively with MN-S Ministry of Health Staff to identify gaps or needs in mental health and substance use services and work towards developing solutions to fulfill them.
  • Implement annual work plans and activity reports.
  • Keep up to date records.
  • Provide monthly reports to Director of Health and Mental Health Team Lead
  • Program development developing templates, manuals, documentation to support a client from admission to end of service, etc.
  • Engaging community
- attending meetings, presenting program information to partners and Métis citizens.

  • Any additional duties/responsibilities as may be assigned.

Qualifications:


  • 35 year's relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with Indigenous, including Métis, clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related fields
  • Master's degree in social work and APT accredited mental health courses are considered an asset.

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Training and experience in traumainformed mental health care for Métis peoples
  • Understanding of Indigenous social determinants of health and common causes of poor mental health and/or substance misuse
  • Experience working directly with community members requiring mental health support, ideally with Métis or Indigenous peoples.
  • Strong working knowledge of the child and youth mental health and addictions system
  • Strong knowledge of the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan and programs offered.
  • Expertise in client care management
  • General awareness of the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan and Métis identity
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including via phone and video conference.

Additional Requirements:


  • Valid Saskatchewan driver's license and access reliable transportation
  • Must undergo a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
  • Work remotely with mínimal supervision.
