Preston Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac Ltd. is seeking a Facilities & Equipment Technician for a Full-Time position

Description of the Role:

The main goal is to ensure the efficient operation of our shop equipment and building facilities within our dealership.

This position is ideal for individuals who are diligent and thrive on a range of hands-on responsibilities such as maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. In cases where tasks exceed your expertise, you will be required to arrange for external assistance, oversee the work, and ensure we receive fair service.

Responsibilities:

- Evaluate the current status of electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, and other vital facilities and equipment to guarantee proper functioning.

- Maintain detailed records on the condition of building systems and equipment.

- Establish a routine for the regular assessment of facilities and equipment.

- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan for the cleaning, repair, and upkeep of shop equipment and facilities.

- Safeguard the building against potential risks such as fire, floods, or other hazards.

- Engage in monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings within the company, providing necessary reports.

- Collaborate with and leverage support from suppliers to enhance overall operations, whether through cost efficiency, improved services, or enhanced efficiencies.

- Cultivate strong relationships with all department managers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Flexibility in schedule for occasional events. Regular working hours Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

- Proficient in mechanical equipment and preventive maintenance.

- Possession of a valid B.C. driver's license and a clean driving record.

- Capable of meeting the physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing and lifting objects weighing 30-50lbs repeatedly.

Additional Information:

- Completion of a background check will be required.

- Negotiable monthly salary based on the applicant's skill set, typically aligning with that of a qualified tradesperson.
