The Opportunity:


The Staffing and Scheduling Associate supports Hospital's Leadership by developing shift schedules and filling vacant shifts in accordance with collective agreements and scheduling guidelines.

The Staffing and Scheduling Associate is responsible for the input of data into the Hospital's scheduling and pay software to ensure Hospital Staff are remunerated appropriately.


Qualifications:


Required

  • 1 year experience in a staffing, scheduling, payroll, or accounting setting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Preferred

  • College Diploma (minimum 2 years) in Business Administration Human Resources or, equivalent.
  • Previous experience with scheduling and payroll systems would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience with payroll preparation would be considered an asset.
  • Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dedicated to professional growth & development
  • Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Models CGMH's I CARE AT Values and Standards of Behaviour.
  • Collaborates with client Leaders to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing of the hospital is maintained.
  • Collaborates with Leader and Payroll and Scheduling Analyst to build shift schedules in accordance with operational requirements and collective agreement guidelines.
  • Reviews call offs to Hospital's Early Absence Reporting Line (EARL)
  • Fills vacant shifts in accordance with the applicable collective agreement language and scheduling guidelines.
  • Meets with client leaders to understand staffing challenges and brainstorm solutions.
  • Completes reporting on daily staffing levels.
  • Ensure that signin sheets are distributed and received within established timelines
  • Enters and validates pay codes into hospital scheduling system to support the payroll process for CGMH and community partners.
  • Sanitizes, charges, and assign Personal Safety Response System devices.
  • Respond to general inquiries and directs the inquiry to the appropriate person based on the nature of the concern.
  • Other duties as assigned.
