The Physician Assistant (PA),Emergency, performs clinical duties and responsibilities in accordance with theguidance provided by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia(CPSBC).
The PA reports to a Site AdministrativeManager but is accountable to the Physician Supervisor or delegate for overallprovision of quality of care and professional development.
The PA supports theprovision of continuous care in a team-based environment workingcollaboratively with the Emergency Department attending physicians (EDPhysicians), medical residents, nursing, and allied health professionals tocare for patients.
SCHEDULE:
37.5 hours per week
Day or Evening shifts with Night shifts probable inthe future
Island Health recognizes that not all PhysicianAssistants are able to work a full-time position, so part-time positions will beentertained on a case-by-case basis to accommodate individual needs
ANNUALCOMPENSATION RANGE &
BENEFITS:
The annual compensation range for PA positions isbased on the schedule described above and years of Physician Assistant experience.
$97, $118,797.001950 hours per year at $ $60.92 per hour
Relocation assistance is available.
Benefits package that has an additional value of approximately 20%

Communicates effectively with patients,families, and care givers in a culturally sensitive and compassionate manner,ensuring patients are engaged and involved in their care.
A PA must enroll in and comply with the continuingprofessional development requirements and provide proof of enrollment andcompliance from the PACCC or the NCCPA, satisfactory to the College.
Throughout the duration of employment, the PA must maintain Physician Assistantlicensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia ( CPSBC) .
Must meet the CPSBC's English language proficiencyrequirements.Must hold Canadian Citizenship, be a permanentresident or be legally able to live and work in British Columbia.
Must maintain all Island Health educational/trainingrequirements.
Must maintain professional liability insurance while employed.

Independent Practitioner Status for FAST Point of CareUltrasound

ASSESSMENT AND PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
During a 12-week probationary period,the PA will undergo assessment and evaluation of their competence to performthe duties in the intended specialty areas under a supervising physician.
Ongoing employment is contingent uponsatisfactory completion of the assessment period required by the CPSBC, theIsland Health probationary period, and ongoing annual reviews.
