Parish Life Coordinator
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton, established in 1856, is the second largest diocese in English speaking Canada and serves the needs of more than 626,000 Roman Catholics, throughout Southwestern Ontario.
Andrew's Parish in Oakville with approximately 1200 families is looking for a part-time (25 to 30 hours/week)
Parish Life Coordinator.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides confidential management support to the Pastoral team.
- Recruiting and managing volunteers.
- Provides spiritual guidance to church members; plans and arranges educational, social, and recreational programs for congregation (including children, young adults, adults, seniors at home and in care).
- Assist Pastoral Team with liturgical support as required (and occasional special services).
- Pastoral presence in schools.
- Plan and facilitate adult education programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- College/University Bachelor's degree, diploma, or certificate with 5 years of experience (an asset but not mandatory).
- Familiar with Catholic liturgical practices and social teaching.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with the Pastor, parish staff, volunteers and parish community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and trust.
- Understanding of issues relevant to the marginalized in our society.
- Comfortable praying with and for others.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized and able to prioritize to meet weekly deadlines
- Strong social media skills.
