The Opportunity:


Reporting to the Director's of Children's Health Program (CHP) IWK Health the Operations Manager will provide collaborative leadership in managing the physical, financial and human resources consistent with the mission, strategic plan, goals and objectives of the IWK Health Centre.

The Operations Manager will liaise effectively with the medical, administrative, professional and support staff, to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Children's Health Program and Brigadoon Village, ensuring high quality accessible patient care services In partnership with the senior leadership of Brigadoon Village, the Operations Manager will participate in the development, execution and monitoring of the short and long
- term program plans to meet the Village's strategic plan and ensure a safe and enriching experience for children attending Brigadoon Village. As part of the camper's primary care team, they will have frequent and proactive interaction with the campers, families of campers, year-round program staff, summer staff and volunteer medical staff. Needs are assignment based and will be done at time of hire within Children's Health. This Operations Management position will be assigned to teams based on needs, initiatives, and project work.


Responsibilities may include:
monitoring and evaluating patient care standards, making recommendations and/or takes action to affect necessary change; collaborates with the manager to develop processes to ensure appropriate numbers of staff are recruited and retained and coordinates human resources to efficiently and effectively meet care requirement; helps manage day to day operations related to staffing and skill mix, use of time banks; works in collaboration with quality facilitators to ensure quality improvement and risk management activities are
coordinated in an efficient and effective manner; mentors team members by supporting, teaching, role modeling and coaching in an effective manner; provides clinical leadership to staff to resolve complex patient issues; helps support the day to day operational expenditures of the care area(s) in a fiscally prudent manner; coordinates the purchasing of capital equipment, auxiliary amenities, and supplies to ensure requirements are met;


Hours of Work:

75 hours of work bi-weekly
This position involves travel to the Brigadoon Village along with some evening and weekend commitments. The position is based out of
the IWK with offices located both at Brigadoon Village, Brigadoon's Halifax office location and IWK Health. A hybrid work from office
and home model will be considered.

Employee would be required to work full time for Brigadoon during the summer months June to September. Then a hybrid models
between Brigadoon and IWK Health will occur for the months of October to May.
(The split of FTE is 0.6FTE Brigadoon and 0.4FTE CHP)


Your Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a nursing required
  • Master's level education or enrolment in same considered an asset
  • Registration/Licensed with appropriate health association/discipline required.
  • 3 years healthcare related experience plus 2 years leadership experience required
  • Must hold a valid driver's license
  • Excellent time management, organization and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
  • Advanced communication, presentation, facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze recent and current trends (wait time, attendance management, workload, SIMS )
  • Knowledgeable in the concepts of programbased care and Patient/Family Centred Care
  • Proven experience liaising with community supports
  • Experience working and leading vo
