Midwest Surveys is a professional land surveying firm providing geomatics services to the oil and gas industry and municipalities through our ten offices in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Office Manager to support the office manager in MPP operations.

This position will be responsible to manage the day-to-day operations of our Major Pipeline Projects (MPP) group and Calgary legal operations during periods of absence (i.e.

vacation) of the Office Manager. The Assistant Office Manager will provide guidance and recommendations for maintaining efficient operations.

Position Details:
The Assistant Office Manager will be responsible for performing or delegating the following duties:

Leading and mentoring a high-performing team of Land Surveyors, Project Managers, and geomatics technical staff in collaboration with the Office Manager.
Determining required staffing levels based on budget and work expectations in collaboration with the Office Manager.
Participating in recruitment activities.
Leading or participating in monthly meetings including presentations on safety, surveying, company initiatives, administrative, and training topics.
Assisting with the development and review of company proposals.
Participating in performance review discussions, when requested.
Bringing forward ideas and suggestions for improving existing processes and procedures.
Participating in discussions with the Office Manager on work volumes.
Providing support and direction on work priorities.
Working with the Office Manager to develop and provide input on the annual budget.

Qualifications and Experience:

A degree or diploma in Geomatics from a recognized school or equivalent experience.
An active professional designation in geomatics such as an ALS, CLS, BCLS, SLS, P.Eng.
7+ years of experience as a Geomatics Technician, Project Manager, or related position.
Experience managing or supervising individuals.
Knowledge in all aspects of land surveying.
Leadership training and/or a willingness to further develop leadership skills through continuing professional development.
