Position and Department Overview:


The HeLTI Canada team is seeking a casual Clinical Research Assistant I to join the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital to conduct research recruitment related tasks in a longitudinal, CIHR-funded randomized controlled trial.

This position encompasses the overall responsibility for participant recruitment for HeLTI Canada Research.

Position must be flexible to work beyond the job description at times as work requires

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Recruitment and scheduling of research participants
  • Administration and collection of research questionnaires
  • Provide weekly reports on recruitment activities
  • Monitor and maintain research logs, deadlines, and schedules with attention to detail
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance to any participant concerns with the online data collection system
  • Data collection/entry
  • Maintain regular and strong communication with research team, providers, clinicians, and referral pathways
  • Assist in obtaining ethics approval for recruitment sites
  • Telephone study participants to confirm appointments or followup on study requirements
  • Obtain informed consent for questionnairebased research
  • Explain questionnaires and arrange for study participants
  • Conduct telephone interviews
  • Provide research administrative support to ensure timelines are maintained
  • General office duties e.g. filing, faxing, mailings, courier services, photocopying, etc.
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining inventory
  • Collection, transcription and entry of study related data
  • Limited processing of data

Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences (e.g. [medical] sociology, [medical] anthropology, psychology) or a related field is an asset
  • Minimum of one year experience in providing administrative support, preferably in a research environment
  • Prior experience in participant recruitment is an asset
  • Strong computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
  • Able to keep written records
  • Able to understand written and verbal directions
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
