THE ROLE:


The Buyer will play a pivotal role within the Purchasing Department, reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing and working closely with the Purchasing Manager.

This role involves a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including the coordination and issuance of Request for Proposals (RFP), tender reviews, supplier strategy development, and ensuring best practices in purchasing and tendering processes.


ACTIVITIES:


Request for Proposals (RFP):

Coordinate and issue Request for Proposals (RFP) in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager.

Conduct thorough and systematic tender reviews, presenting findings to the Purchasing Manager and Director of Purchasing for evaluation.


Supplier Strategy Development:

Assist in the development and review of supplier strategies to optimize procurement processes.

Conduct supplier evaluations to ensure adherence to quality requirements and specifications.


Best Practices:

Ensure the implementation of best practices throughout the purchasing and tendering processes.

Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to enhance purchasing strategies.


Purchase Order Management:

Track and expedite purchase orders issued to suppliers, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve any issues related to purchase orders.


Invoice Collection and Payment Processing:

Collect and organize supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Work closely with the finance department to facilitate timely payments to suppliers.


Production Schedule Compliance:

Monitor and ensure that goods are produced and shipped according to the established schedule.

Address any deviations or delays in collaboration with relevant departments.


Strategic Relationship Building:

Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers.

Ensure the company's interests are met while fostering positive and collaborative partnerships.


Industry Expertise:

Utilize knowledge and experience within the hospitality industry to make informed purchasing decisions.

Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.


COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:


Academic/Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain Management from an accredited institution.


Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Requirements:

3 or more years of proven experience in a purchasing/procurement role.

Extensive experience in logistics and shipping goods both internationally and nationally.

In-depth knowledge of the purchasing process within the hotel industry, coupled with strong negotiation skills.

Track record of working closely with suppliers, demonstrating understanding of their processes, including manufacturing techniques and practices.

Familiarity with supply chain management (SCM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and/or material requirements planning (MRP) software.

Essential experience in the Hospitality industry.

Capability to travel approximately 25% of the time.


Additional Preferences:

Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management.

Multilingual proficiency, especially in languages relevant to international procurement.

Experience in implementing and optimizing procurement technologies.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-value procurement projects.
