International Student-Homestay Coordinator


Medicine Hat Public School Division's nearly 1000 staff offer a full spectrum of education services to students from the City of Medicine Hat and throughout the region.

The Homestay Coordinator will assist in locating, selecting, and orienting host families before the arrival of international students. They will monitor homestay placements during students' stay and will provide support to students and families during the placement. We normally welcome more than 100 International students throughout a school year.

The quality of student experiences is largely dependent on identifying and recruiting safe and welcoming homes that are enthusiastic about receiving an international student.

Hours and days of work vary throughout the week, month and year.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a "pool" of families that have expressed an interest in participating in the program.

Interview and select host families.

Match students with host families

Ensure documentation is collected, including criminal record check, vulnerable sectors check, and child welfare intervention check.

Maintain contact with host families and students

Track and maintain quarterly progress reports and provide to the International Student Coordinator

Manage and ensure payment are processed to families


Arrange students pick up and departures to and from airport and assist in orientation and a smooth transition with host family.


QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants with the following Qualifications:
Experience working with youth

excellent oral and written communications skills
