Penner Farm Services Ltd., the leading providers of livestock equipment, supplies, and services in Western Canada is currently looking for an Estimator to join our Sales & Projects Team
Reporting to the General Manager, the Project Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for capital projects by analyzing proposals and estimating time, money, labour and materials requirements for the project.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Identifies and computes costs for labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Set up cost reporting systems and procedures and enter data into the ERP system.
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications as needed.
Knowledge and skills required:
-2-3 years' experience working in an administrative role in the construction industry
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and product manuals
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong mathematical orientation
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Proficiency with MS Office Excel.
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
Excellent internal/external customer service orientation and good teamwork skills.
