VP of Operations, Northern BC Region

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic Vice President of Operations to lead and oversee daily activities in the heavy industrial sectors, including pulp & paper, mining, and oil & gas. This role requires a seasoned leader capable of inspiring teams, managing complex projects, and fostering strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will have extensive executive experience and be committed to driving strategic decisions, safety, and profitability within the region.

Must Haves:

• Proven leadership abilities with a focus on inspiring and motivating teams to achieve collective objectives.
• Executive experience with the potential for advancement to a more senior roles within a few years.
• Extensive background in project management, estimating, and project controls.
• Demonstrated success in building relationships and handling complex, high-stake negotiations with large company clients.
• Willingness to travel over 50% of the time, including regular visits to regional offices and client sites.
• Residency in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia or willingness to travel there frequently.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience in the pulp & paper, mining, and oil & gas industries.
• Track record of exceeding profitability targets and contributing significantly to the bottom line.
• Strong advocate for safety and health, with a history of improving safety metrics within a region.

• Lead strategic decisions in resource management, budgeting beyond scope, and customer relations.
• Develop and implement business strategies aligned with the regional business plan.
• Promote a safety-first culture among all employees and subcontractors.
• Drive performance management and succession planning for key positions within the region.
• Foster full employee engagement and support their professional development.
• Enhance operational efficiency and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build and sustain long-term relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction and exploring new business opportunities within the region.
